The British Friends of Harvard Business School in particular encourage applications from those from non-traditional career backgrounds (either careers before HBS or post HBS career ambitions), from a variety of universities, and those with financial need. Former BFHBS scholars include civil servants, NHS doctors, international development professionals; firsts in their family to go to university; and state school or bursary aided pupils.

Successful candidates will be asked to give a ‘moral’ undertaking that once their own net worth is sufficiently large they will in due course make a donation to the BFHBS to fund more scholarships.
